Sonny Gomez, 64, holding a picture of himself when he was 18 years old, about to leave for Vietnam, on Memorial Day in Los Angeles. Mr. Gomez was stationed in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. Although he suffered injuries during the war and has been retired for quite some time now, he said with great pride that if one day the country needs him, he will certainly serve it again. Yet on Picture 17, the negative effects of war can still be seen in his expression.
